National Splendor Theme Creation Activity
With brushes, we depict the essence of the nation; with our hands, we construct cultural landmarks. A 'National Splendor' themed creative event of both beauty and warmth was splendidly staged in our eighth grade where students used art as a bridge to explore the cultural veins of Chinese civilization through their creations. Also, with their youthful perspectives, students interpreted the profound meaning of 'Chinese nation is one big family.
To be specific, students transformed themselves into cultural explorers and artistic creators. For instance, from the dignified and elegant style of the Korean ethnic group's clothing, to the elegant and flowing appearance of the Hui ethnic group's scarves, one after another, the sheets of paper are like a series of windows, showcasing the unique charm and grace of various ethnic groups, also carrying the love and respect for ethnic cultures.
In addition, students ingeniously used materials such as cardstock, clay, and disposable chopsticks to transform the book knowledge into three-dimensional and tangible physical models. For example, distinctive Mongolian yurts and exquisite Miao embroidery are all on display. Evidently, not only are these miniature landscapes the crystallization of architectural wisdom, but also a vivid portrayal of the nation's history and lifestyle. Therefore, what we see here is the patience and creativity flowing through these fingertips, while in our hearts, there is a deep sense of identification with the diverse yet integrated Chinese culture among the students.
On the whole, based on aesthetic education and supplemented by labor education, students enhanced their aesthetic qualities through color mixing and sketching, refining their practical skills through cutting and construction, and deepening their cultural identity through collaborative exploration. Meanwhile, the beauty of a nation lies in its diverse coexistence while the soul of culture lies in its continuous transmission from generation to generation. More remarkably, one after another, the paintings and the models are not only gifts that youth offer to the national culture, but also vivid witnesses of the continuous transmission of Chinese culture from generation to generation.
